DYNAMICS or FOOL MOON WINE Dynamics means the activation of vital force. « Meanwhile, the Moon, the queen of night, is flowing in azure heavens …» poet says
Equal phases of the moon, like breathing-in and breathing-out, are demonstra- ting the harmonious balance and the equipoise of natural forces. During Moon growth an inflow of forces takes place and it is necessary to be concerned about vershoks. On the contrary, roots are important during the decreasing Moon. Equal phases of a planet set a rhythm submitting to which is naturally and necessary.
Rudolf Steiner is called the most carefully kept secret of the XXth century. His name is strongly associated with philosophy, medicine, pedagogics, theatre and fine arts. Engaged in a wide range of problems, he was not interested in agriculture as to that, and wine growing in particular. Over and above, he was a convinced nondrinker. Yet his anthroposophy explained the interaction between a person and the world around him and could help to find explanations of many natural processes.
The German scientist and the philosopher accumulated knowledge of nature and human creativity, and unexpectedly became the ideological inspirer of «biodynamists» in the end XXth century. By means of eight lectures he managed to explain «Spiritually-scientific bases of successful agriculture development» to a group of German farmers in 1924.
The new era of Biodynamic began in 80s with French wine-maker Nicolas Zholi initiated and inspired by Rudolf Steiner lectures. Soon the inscription appeared on biodynamist’s business card: «The Nature Assistant, Not a Wine-maker…».
The main requirement to wine-makers is a refusal of using chemical preparations and replacing them with their biodynamic fertilizers. Steiner specified six natural stimulators: yarrow, a chamomile, a nettle, an oak bark, dandelion flowers and valerian juice. They invoke active processes in soil, harmonize environment and raise activity of vital processes in a grapevine. One of the most powerful biodynamic fertilizers is a cow horn (do you remember a fairy tale about Kroshechka-Havroshechka?)
The cow belongs to the element of water — the most balanced of all four elements. It is wise and calm. All processes of vital activity pass quite slowly. In all mythologies of the world it is the Great Mother, all goddesses of the Moon in their nutritious aspect, the productive force of the Earth, plurality, procreation and a parent instinct. Horns of a cow represent the Moon in an incomplete phase. Representing either the Moon or the earth deities, a cow belongs both to celestial and chthonian worlds. In Hinduism a cow is esteemed as the sacred animal personifying abundance, cleanliness, sanctity and considered as a sacred (bringing goodness) animal. As well as being the mother of the Earth, a cow is a symbol of a principle of self-denying sacrifice.
The game, suggested by followers of Rudolf Steiner on the project site of Loft Wine Bar, is conventionally called «Biodynamics». Creating balance between energies of the Earth and space and enjoying the result - it is the game purpose. Participants of the game, possessing the knowledge of a lunar calendar, agricultural traditions of the antiquity, intuition and belief in a miracle, make a start and win.
